On Monday evening at 7:18PM, police responded to a 911 call of a male assaulting a female with a knife inside of 820 Ocean Parkway near Foster Avenue. Upon arrival, officers entered apartment 714 and encountered a 47-year-old male armed with a knife. A 51-year-old male also entered the apartment. After ordering the suspect to drop the knife multiple times, police discharged their firearms striking the armed individual. The 47-year-old male was pronounced DOA at the scene. The second individual, who sustained trauma to the torso during the incident, was removed to Maimonides Hospital where he was pronounced DOA. A 35-year-old female as well as two children, ages six and seven, were in the apartment at the time of the incident, and were unharmed.
The female and her children locked themselves in the apartment’s bathroom as the suspect, armed with two knives, attempted to gain entry.
Three officers were removed to Maimonides Hospital for treatment of tinnitus. Two knives were recovered at the scene.
The investigation is ongoing.

For the record, it is IMPOSSIBLE to be “DOA at the scene.” The perp could be DOA at the hospital.

Looks like everyone from the 70 was at the crime scene, but the most photographed member of the NYPD was Detective Dominick Scotto. Interestingly this happened in one of the quietest parts of the precinct just a couple of blocks from the historic station house.
