A person was in critical condition with severe burns after a fire erupted inside a Borough Park building Tuesday afternoon, DNAInfo is reporting. WABC is reporting that there was a small explosion.

The person, whose identity was not immediately released, was hurt when the blaze broke out on the first floor of 910 McDonald Ave., near 18th Avenue, about 1:40 p.m., an FDNY spokesman said.

He was taken to Maimonides Medical Center in critical condition with severe burns.

Dozens of firefighters brought the blaze under control.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
