Monsey: Police Launch ‘Operation Safe Stop’ School Bus Enforcement


sbusOn Thursday April 16, 2015 the Ramapo Police Department will join law enforcement officers from around the state by participating in “Operation Safe Stop.” Police officers will be in marked and unmarked patrol vehicles on select bus routes that have a history of illegal passing complaints. Officers will be looking for and issuing tickets to motorists who fail to stop for school buses that are picking up or dropping off children.

The fine for a first-time offender of illegally passing a school bus is $250 – $400, 5 points on your license, and/or possibly 30 days in jail.
