Flatbush: Using Suspect’s Stolen-Cellphone Selfie, NYPD Seeks A Thief

sNew York City police say a suspect who brazenly swiped a cellphone from a subway rider added image to injury: He used the stolen phone to snap a selfie.

That photo is now in investigators’ hands, and police said Saturday they’re looking for the selfie suspect.

They got the photo from the victim’s Google account. Some phone users set up their devices to back up photos automatically to their Google photo libraries.

The 36-year-old victim was texting on his Galaxy S3 phone while riding a Q train around 5:45 a.m. Oct. 24.

Police say as the train pulled into the Beverly Road station in the Prospect Park South section of Brooklyn, the thief grabbed the phone from the owner’s hand and then ran off when the doors opened.

  1. It is terrible that YWN has published this picture. It gives all men of color a bad name when we know that it is only the odd one in a thousand who would ever dream of snatching another person’s property. It really is not right of people to flaunt their things in front of the underprivileged. What do they expect?

It only gives a גנב a bad name, no matter what he looks like.
There is nothing wrong with using a smartphone in front of the less fortunate. Perhaps it’s the נגנב’s fault.
