Ramapo Police To Start Crackdown On People Passing School Buses Following Three Pedestrian Struck Incidents

sbuThe Monsey area has recently had multiple accidents involving school-buses, and Ramapo Police are planning a serious crackdown.

In the past two weeks there have been at least three accidents where drivers passed school buses despite having their red lights flashing. This has resulted in serious injuries for the victims.

Sources tell YWN that Ramapo Police held an emergency meeting to map out a plan of action. Due to the seriousness of this matter, Ramapo Police held this meeting on a holiday weekend without waiting until regular work hours restart.

Drivers can take this as a warning that there will be zero tolerance for people failing to stop when school buses have their lights flashing.

Ramapo police will be adding extra patrols in marked and unmarked cars to enforce this crackdown.

So far this year, Ramapo Police have issued 96 tickets for passing stopped school buses. Ramapo Police have also documented 378 times, since the beginning of September, where officers have followed school buses to enforce this type of violation.
