All Three Sons Of Lelover Rebbe Crowned As Rebbes

lelov.jpgDuring a gathering of the elders of the Lelov Chassidus, attended by the men over the age of 50, a decision was reached by which all three sons of the Rebbe zt”l will be crowned with the title Rebbe, each serving in his own city.

The sudden petira of the Lelover Rebbe of Bnei Brak, Rav Shimon Nosson Nota Biderman ZATZAL at the age of 78, left the chassidus to make a difficult decision, which resulted in the Wednesday night emergency kenos.

Leading the gathering were the elders of the Chassidus, R’ Simcha Karkovski, R’ Mordechai Glaubstein and R’ Noach Goldberg. Those present report the ziknei chassidus were visibly pained by the harsh reality of Yom Kippur, and the absence of their Rebbe, and the decision faced by them, to select the successor to the tzaddik who was taken so unexpectedly.

R’ Karkovski spoke of the years he was at the Rebbe’s side, until that last Yom Kippur night when they were all left orphans. He explained that en route to Beilinson Hospital he was already aware there was nothing more to be done, leading to his dramatic decision to return the body of the niftar to the Bnei Brak beis medresh.

The followers of the Rebbe waited anxiously for the decision, which of the sons would receive the mantle of leadership. All three will indeed continue to lead, with R’ Eliyahu remaining in Bnei Brak, R’ Aaron in Beit Shemesh and R’ Yaakov, the youngest of the brothers, in Yerushalayim.

R’ Eliyahu Azriel is the bechor. R’ Aaron who lives in the United States, has already announced he will be moving to Eretz Yisrael, to assume his post in Beit Shemesh, where the chassidus has a significant following. R’ Yaakov currently serves as rav of a shul in Yerushalayim but it is unclear if he will accept the appointment, possibly preferring to remain the rov of the shul and nothing more.

The elders expressed their hope that the followers of the late Rebbe zt”l will accept the decision and there will not chas v’sholom be dispute and even worse, a breaking away and the creation of factions. They stressed the importance of remaining united and nothing else is acceptable.

  1. WELL DONE!!!!!! its nice to see a chasiddus reaching a decision like this without creating Machlokes!!!! and not only that they are asking everyone to accept this decision!!!! WELL DONE!!! i hope all other Casiduss takes note of this a follows suite in future!!!

  2. Wow a chasidus with a power transfer and no machloikes.
Makes me almost want to be a chosid.
    All joking aside Kol hakavod.
And anyone who has ever criticized machloikes should take the time to give credit when due.

  3. #2 Makove set the first example. The Makover rov/rebbe from Kfar Attah, the oldest son of the previous Makover rov, not only allowed all of his brothers to carry the name “Makove”, but also went out of his way and helping them in it. Reb Shimon Lemberger or “Shimon hatzadik” as he is affectionately called, is a “mooster” for klal Yisroel and set the golden standard.

I also hope that all chassidus do the same and stop with machloikes once and for all.
