No Injuries When Rockland County Transit Bus Catches Fire On Thruway Near Monsey

fdState police say no injuries are reported after a transit bus caught fire while traveling on the Thruway in New York City’s northern suburbs.

Troopers on the Thruway detail say the fire was reported around 6 a.m. Monday on a Rockland County transit bus that was headed north on Interstate 87 in the town of Ramapo.

Police say they don’t know how many people were on the bus, which was pulled over onto the highway’s right shoulder between Exit 14A and Exit 14B.

The right and center northbound lanes were closed. The center lane has since reopened. Troopers say the right lane will be closed while the damaged bus is removed from the scene.

There’s no indication yet what caused the fire.
