Three NYPD Officers Fire 31 Rounds And Kill Armed Bronx Man

9A man was shot and killed in the Bronx early Sunday after police say he pointed a gun at officers.

The NYPD says police responded to a shooting at about 1:50 a.m. on Randall Avenue in the Clason Point section.

When officers arrived, they found a 25-year-old man with a firearm in front of that location at the Soundview Houses.

When given a number of verbal commands to drop the 9 mm handgun, he refused and then pointed the weapon at officers, according to the NYPD.

Three officers fired a total of 31 shots, some of which struck the suspect.

The man was pronounced dead at Jacobi Medical Center.

The Medical Examiner’s Office will determine whether drugs or alcohol were involved in the behavior leading to the shooting.

The man, whose name has not yet been released, was the father of a 4-year-old son, and has a prior arrest history.

The NYPD said a Hi-Point 9mm firearm was recovered at the scene.
