Woodmere: Impersonating Police Officer Pulls Over Car, Robs Victim

Police are searching for a man who posed as a police officer and robbed a driver in Woodmere.

Police released a sketch of a bearded man who targeted a driver in broad daylight.

According to police, a man turned on his red lights and pulled over a driver at 3:45 p.m. on Broadway.

Police say the man made the victim remove his belongings, sent him back to his car and then took off with the driver’s wallet.

Nassau police say drivers should ask for badge numbers or identification if pulled over by an unmarked vehicle.

Anyone with information should call 1-800-244-TIPS.

While this is incredibly annoying for officers, if you get pulled over by an officer driving an unmarked vehicle, open your window just enough to be able to ask the officer to show you his badge. Call police and verify that he’s legit before opening the window any further. Once verified you can open the window enough to pass him your license and registration.

  2. To commenter #1–good idea in theory but in practice that will likely earn you a rodney king style beatdown or a few rounds to the chest.

  3. Not first time nor last if he’s not in uniform as for id that’s badge and picture ID. Call 911 check with local precinct if they have this guy. Report fraud
