JUST IN: Arrest Made In Brooklyn Fire That Killed 5


Brooklyn, NY – Police have arrested a suspect in Saturday’s fatal Brooklyn fire that claimed the lives of five people, including a mother who died heroically saving her two children.

The suspect is a man who lives in the building, but police have yet to confirm his identity.

Monday night CBS 2 HD obtained exclusively surveillance video police are using in their investigation. The video, taken from a nearby store, captures an individual approaching the three-story Bensonhurst building at exactly 2 a.m. It is not known whether the individual in the video is the suspect arrested on Tuesday morning.

Five people were killed in the fire, including Luisa Chan wife. She died saving her two children. Her daughter suffered a fractured skull as she was thrown out the window in a car seat. Her 2-year-old son survived without any injury.

Most of the tenants who lived in the building are Guatemalan immigrants.

Twenty people lived in the building. There have been questions as to whether the building had violations.

  1. My anger at what this animal did doesn’t even allow me to think of what the correct punishment should be. Whatever that punishment will be could never be enough to even the score.
