Behind the Presidential Noise, Aron Wieder Steps Forward To Run For Us

awWhile many of you are focused on today’s presidential election, there is a crucial local election taking place in Orange and Rockland counties. Rockland Legislator Aron Wieder is challenging incumbent Republican Karl Brabenec in the 98th Assembly District.

The 98th assembly district encompasses 60% of the East Ramapo school district.

A vote for Wieder is a vote for all of us.

Wieder served on the East Ramapo School Board for three years in multiple capacities. As a school board member, Wieder introduced and passed a proposal to establish a full day kindergarten program, and raised private funds to support the public schools East Ramapo Marching Band. Aron knows the district. He will use his vast knowledge and experience to persuade his colleagues in the state legislature to increase state funding for the underfunded district.

During his time on the school board, the graduation rate improved, and the New York State School Board Association gave Wieder the Board Excellence Award, the highest recognition of any school board member in Rockland County. He was also awarded with a Certificate of Excellence by the Rockland County School Board Association, distinctions that highlighted the work he did on behalf of the students, faculty, and taxpayers of East Ramapo.

In the aftermath of the 2010 earthquake in Haiti, he made national headlines for coordinating hundreds of thousands of dollars in contributions from local businesses for medical supplies, and organized a mission of nurses to provide medical care for the people of Haiti. A true Kiddush Hashem.

In 2011, Aron Wieder was elected to the Rockland County Legislature, representing Spring Valley. As a legislator, he fought for fiscal responsibility to resolve Rockland’s deficit, and relief for unfunded state mandates to reduce property taxes for Rockland County residents.

If successful Aron plans to join the Democratic conference in the Assembly. For those of you not versed in Albany politics, the Democrats hold a super majority in the Assembly and only members of the Democratic Conference have the power to effect real change and legislate. While we all understand the importance of being bipartisan, sending a Republican to the NYS Assembly is a fools errand and literally a wasted vote. Republicans are perfectly nice people but today they are no more than window dressing in the New York State Assembly. Anyone who tells you otherwise has a personal agenda and it’s not you or our community they care about.‎ Don’t take my word for it, ask any Askan or legitimate community activist to confirm the validity of this position.

Aron Wieder has devoted his time and energy for the Klal and the Yachid. There are many issues facing our community and having a representative who understands our community because he’s from our community is extremely valuable and important. In order for Aron to be there for us, we need to be there for him!

Please be sure to vote for Aron Wieder today.
