Frum Councilman Schaer Condemns Trump for Failing to Mention Jews or anti-Semitism in Holocaust Statement

SchaerAssemblyman Gary Schaer has introduced legislation rebuking the White House for issuing an International Holocaust Remembrance Day statement that failed to mention Jews or the anti-Semitism that led to the Nazi genocide.

“It’s unconscionable that the leader of the United States of America – a nation that was founded on the principles of religious freedom, justice, tolerance and human rights – would purposely fail to remember and condemn one of the worst atrocities in recorded history perpetuated against a people who observed a particular religious belief,” said Schaer (D-Passaic/Bergen). “The Holocaust was about exterminating Jewish people. It’s disturbing that President Trump failed to acknowledge that basic fact, but New Jersey condemns anti-Semitism in all its forms.”

The resolution (AR-213) – introduced Monday – would be transmitted by the Clerk of the General Assembly to Trump, the Majority Leader of the United States Senate, the Speaker of the United States House of Representatives, each member of Congress elected from this state and to prominent leaders of the Jewish community in New Jersey.

“We cannot look askance at anti-Semitism and coded anti-Semitic language,” Schaer said. “President Trump’s actions here were inexcusable and inexplicable. The excuses coming from the White House don’t clear things up. In fact, they heightened the concern. The Holocaust was about Nazi genocide against the Jewish people. That is an inescapable fact that must be acknowledged.”

  1. If this man voted twice for Obama and is his apologist, don’t take a word that he says seriously. Liberal Jews will go to great lengths and focus on the trivial meaningless stuff. Where was Schaer in condemning Obama on Iran? Where was his statement when he stabbed Israel in the back? Where was he when Obama handed Iran 150 Million? He was nowhere to be found.

  2. Git Meshige you’re not so meshige. By the way, good morning Gary. That is such old news. What took you so long to condem his comments?

  3. Git Meshige is 100% right. this guy must have had an anti trump agenda already before. i have never in my life seen such hatred for a president! what gives here?

  4. Its so embarrassing when Jewish politicians make these ridiculous comments. When you call everything anti-semitism when the real thing shows up no one will listen. This is a typical left wing strategy. Call everything racism, antisemitism, Nazi, fascist etc. so the real thing is watered down. Hopefully whoever voted Schaer will get rid of him at the next election.

  5. I’m wondering what took so long for Mr. Schaer’s condemnation. I’m also wondering what these comments would have looked like had it been President Obama who purposely ‘forgot’ to mention the death of 6 million Jews (p.s. even the anti-Semitic Obama recognized this fact).

Trump is a pathological liar and self-absorbed egomaniac who knows everything best. We will regret it if we blindly trust him. He wants you to believe his “fake tweets” more than “fake news”, but our Founders understood the importance of the free press. We must trust but verify.

  6. Maybe once he is at it he can also ask Trump why no terror attacks in Israel were included in Trump’s underreported terror attacks list. He included Turkey, France and other foreign countries but left out all the knife stabbings and vehicular attacks that took place in Israel.

And maybe he can also ask Trump if he knows who David Duke is.

Is he a councilman or an assemblyman? YWN’s proofreader strikes again!

YWN is correct. He is both a city councilman and State assemblyman.
