Menachem Avel means Menachem Avel. If lehalocho Rav Elyashiv shlit”a is not an Avel R”L then rav Wosner shlit”a isnt being menachem him. The visit may have been just regarding Rav Elyashiv’s health as mentioned in the above article.

Since Rav elyashiv isn’t an avel since he didn’t have a shmuah. I don’t think there is an inyan to be menachem avel that isn’t an avel.

I wouldn’t be surprised if the reason Rav Wosner visited Rav Elyashiv was to be מנחם אבל him without Rav Elyashiv realizing it. Just a thought.

Just curious, what will they tell the Rav if he asks why he has not heard from his daughter? Its one thing if R”L his mind is not active but from all accounts, it is apparent that his mind is active, so won’t he question that?
