PHOTO ESSAY: The Life Of The Vizhnitzer Rebbe ZATZAL

The link below is a collection of photos of the life of the Vizhnitzer Rebbe of Bnei Brak, HaRav Moshe Yehoshua Hager ZATZAL. The Rebbe was born in Romania on the 13th of Nissan 5676. He was 95 at the time of his Petira. Additional photos of the Rebbe ZATZAL will be added as they become available to us.

Additionally, a full crew from Kuvien Images has been in Bnei Brak covering the massive Levaya for YWN, and full photo and video coverage will be published shortly.

Thanks to JDN for providing this beautiful photo essay.

  1. That is the only picture where he wore a tie. You will see a tie in no other picture in the collection. This appears to be a picture taken at a simcha, when he was a very young bochur. Most likely, to honor the family whose simcha he was at, he followed their mode of dress, which was still within the bounds of yiddishe dress.

  2. Firsly, the tie was worn because in Ruzhin the minhag was to wear a tie and the Rebbe zatzal was a descendant of Ruzhin. The tie vanished after the war when the Rebbe zatzal came to Eretz Yisroel.
Secondly, thank you so much for the photos, some are just beautiful. Do you have contact details for any of the photographers because there are some we’d really like a copy of.
