According to a report from Switzerland on Thursday, 25 Adar 5773, an elderly chareidi couple perished in a blaze during the night. The victims of the blaze were R’ Yosef Elbaum (91) and his rebitzen Raizel (74) z”l. It appears they died of smoke inhalation.
Neighbors realized the fire broke out and summoned firefighters close to midnight. By the time the firefighters were able to reach the elderly couple it was too late. Their caretaker managed to flee Kikar Shabbat reports, but required treatment for smoke inhalation. The cause of the blaze is not reported.
The levaya was held on Thursday evening, with the procession escorting the niftarim to the airport where they bodies were flown to Eretz Yisrael for kvura. The levaya in Eretz Yisrael was held in the Segulah Beis HaChaim in Petach Tikvah.
The niftar was close to the Spinka Rebbe Shlita of Bnei Brak.
