I was at the shiva this evening. The other two children are Boruch Hashem OK. One boy had a few bruises and scrapes. He was sleeping when I arrived. The daughter was awake and playful. As R’ Efraim Yawitz remarked, “The ones who understand least what has happened, will suffer the most.”

The accident occurred almost across the street from their apartment at between 5:00 to 6:00 pm during twilight or immediately before sunset when it is hardest to see properly. The driver of the car was not even planning to be on that street at that time. Rather, he had driven there solely to give someone a lift.

It is a big mitzva to go to the Shiva. It is close to Yom Kippur. The shiva will end Friday afternoon. Anyone who is interested, please send me an e-mail at:
