New York State Trooper Injured In Thruway Accident


nysp2At approximately 6:43 AM on June 28, 2013, Trooper George Varghese from State Police Albany was involved in a traffic stop on the southbound shoulder of I-87 in the exit 23-24 work zone when his marked patrol vehicle, a 2006 Chevrolet Tahoe, was struck in the left rear by a 2010 Dodge Ram owned and operated by Stephen J. Milan age 58 of Middle Grove, NY.

The Dodge Ram then continued southbound, without stopping, driving off the right shoulder in several locations and finally striking and coming to rest straddling the guide rail near the Delaware Avenue overpass, where the operator was found to apparently be suffering from a preexisting medical condition.

Both Tpr. Vargheseand Mr. Milan were transported to Albany Medical Center where Tpr. Varghese was treated and released for back & neck pain and Mr. Milan was treated and released for Diabetic Shock and an abrasion to the elbow.
