On the mark, but the Op-Ed author left out one important little piece of information- how Shimka Perez got to be president by using and abusing his power to unseat and defame the previous president.

Let’s be dan l’kaf zechus. Peres is obviously suffering from senile dementia which has caused him to distort the truth and inflate his own self worth. He may have been able to rewrite events in his mind, but he cannot rewrite events in Hashem’s ledger which is the only “history book” that counts.
