zichmich, your question is not that hard. The Israelis know in their bones that Chareidim will not betray Israel to the Arabs (with the likely possibility of NK). The Israelis also know in their bones that the Arabs residents of Eretz Israel will very likely betray Israel to just anyone.

Gzeiras Shmad? Does anyone really believe that anybody but a few meretz extremists cares whether we are frum or not? Defending ourselves is common sense. Nothing to do with zionism or anti-zionism. If the tzava creates conditions that are conducive to keeping halocha and not too disruptive to chinuch, there is no reason any but a few real iluyim should be exempt. Is it a coincidence that this idea of permanently learning full time for everyone does not exist outside eretz Yisroel? Even in Lakewood, I am told this was only a horaas shaa from post WWII.

If they shove this law down the chareidim’s throat, the charedim should Unite and fight back. 60,000 kein Yirbu, is not a small number!!! The government is virtually POWERLESS against the chareidi tzibur, if they will stand UNITED!

This LAW could backfire big time and I hope it does!!!

It will only backfire if we stand UNITED with Harav Shteinman and follow his guide lines.

There must be a better answer then no! Why can’t everyone just get along. When will people start to understand that saying no does not explain to the chilonim why we are not going to the army

Interestingly Rav Ovadia, Rav Shteinman and other gedolie Yisroel have remained relatively timid about this whole situation, lets wait and see what they have to say before we start labeling this as “gezieras shmad”

Can someone please explain logically FROM A SECULAR view point, [who doesn't believe it's a mitzva to serve] why the arab community is exempt from national service or IDF?
