Former President George H.W. Bush To Formally Endorse Romney

Former President George H. W. Bush will formally endorse Mitt Romney on Thursday in Houston, Texas.

The endorsement comes a week after the former president’s son, Florida Gov. Jeb Bush (R) endorsed Romney. Former first lady Barbara Bush has also endorsed Romney.

In December of 2011 the elder President Bush indicated support for Romney, saying that “Romney is the best choice for us.”

The endorsements by most members of the Bush family suggest mainstream Republican heavyweights want the Republican primary to effectively end and for the party to rally around Romney.

In his endorsement, Gov. Bush urged the party to “unite” around Romney.

“Primary elections have been held in 34 states, and now is the time for Republicans to unite behind Gov. Romney and take our message of fiscal conservatism and job creation to all voters this fall,” the Florida governor said in his endorsement.

  1. The Bushes were never especially right-wing. They are “old money” big-government types. Ideologically they are closer to Romney than any other candidate in the race. Had they endorsed anyone else, it would be a surprise.

  2. It’s incredible that the Republican party would nominate Romney, who is the father of “Obamacare,” thereby dropping the major issue that could propel them to victory.

The only other issue, the economy, is already being manipulated to make it appear that everything is coming up roses, so what is Romney going to run on?

As for personality, Romney is a colorless businessman, with no real commitment to “values” issues. It’s all money and power to him.

Looks to me like he is going to be a sure loser.

  3. Thank you Mr. Bush now we know who not to vote for, as you and your dear son were from the top 5 worst presidents this country ever had, right up there with Teddy, carter&Obama
