What a poor piece of reporting. We've come to the point that the "fact checkers" need fact-checking themselves. Just a few out of the many errors and misstatements in this piece:

* Romney is correct on the jobless numbers. People who have given up looking are still unemployed. If they thought they could get jobs they'd be looking for them.

* "the nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office has consistently said the law actually will reduce the deficit."

And nobody, including the CBO itself believes that. The CBO report was accompanied by a disclaimer by its director openly acknowledging that the report was based on assumptions Pelosi and Reid had ordered it to make, which were completely incredible. It said that without these assumptions, which nobody actually thinks are true, the bill substantially increases the deficit.

* "The 2009 stimulus package included a series of tax cuts for middle- and low-income people, including a tax credit worth up to $800 that year and again in 2010."

A tax credit is not a tax cut. It's a handout, going to everybody whether they pay taxes or not, and not affecting their planning for the future.

* "Romney often pins sole blame on Obama for “arbitrary” defense spending cuts but they actually come from a White House deal with congressional Republicans, including his GOP vice presidential running mate, Rep. Paul Ryan."

So what? How does that change the truth of what Romney said? This wasn't something Ryan or the Republicans did, it was the price the Democrats demanded as the price for their cooperation in making some tiny progress on cutting domestic spending. The Republicans reluctantly agreed to it rather than bankrupt the country. To blame them now for it is a chutzpah.
