20 Peleg Protesters Arrested Amid New Round of Protests [VIDEO & PHOTOS]

(VIDEO IN EXTENDED ARTICLE)

Peleg protesters returned to the streets on Sunday in protest of 12 Bochrim who were sentenced to prison sentences. According to Israeli media, of the hundreds of protesters who took the streets 20 were arrested, 10 in Jerusalem and 10 in Bnei Brak.

The Jerusalem Peleg group under the leadership of Hagaon HaRav Shmuel Auerbach hoped that their relaxed stance on protesting over the past few weeks of quiet, would lead to the eventual release of the young men who refuse to show up at the IDF recruitment office and settle their military deferrals as students who study Torah. When the IDF court in Yaffo issued out prison sentences for the 12 Bochrim lasting between 40 days and three months, the Peleg decided to unleash their followers for a new round of protests.

After two-and-a-half-hours Rav Shmuel Auerbach issued a statement requesting all protesters to return to their Batei Midrashim. The request came after the new round of arrests.
