Grodna Yeshiva Will Not Open the Next Zman

closedFour hundred talmidim attending the Grodna Yeshiva in the Be’er Yaakov neighborhood will not be returning to limudim next week as they yeshiva is without a building. The report refers to the yeshiva headed by HaGaon Harav Yitzchak Hacker and HaGaon HaRav Tzvi Drevkin, both in receipt of official notification that the yeshiva will not resume on Rosh Chodesh Iyar.

Rav Drevkin has called for tefilos due to the situation, which will take place on Thursday evening 24 Nissan in three areas in Israel. One venue for graduates of the yeshiva will take place at 6 Yerushalayim Street in Bnei Brak at 20:00. Tefilos will also take place at the Kosel and the third site is in Modi’in Illit.

The yeshiva is located at 28 Jabotinsky Street in Be’er Yaakov on land owned by Eliyahu Raful. Two months ago R’ Raful instructed the yeshiva’s administration that he wishes to end the relationship with the yeshiva. The move was prompted by the fact that Rav Raful’s Knesses Shalom Yeshiva was ousted from its building, compelling it to move to the Grodna building.

According to Kikar Shabbos, talks involving “a gadol hador” have been ongoing with the gadol hador working to persuade Rav Raful to permit the Grodna yeshiva to remain.

  1. It’s probably not possible but wouldn’t it be nice if they could somehow share the building so both could remain open and cut the expenses of maintaining two buildings.

  2. Sounds like business as usual…אים אן כסף – אן תורה….or something like that. It’s been a long time since I was in yeshiva, I just can’t quite remember the exact words…
