The IDF Homefront Command reports that beginning tomorrow, Friday 27 Tammuz, the “Personal Message” SMS text system will be operational. It will inform residents of a rocket attack via the mobile phone in the Negev, Beersheva, Yehuda, Ashdod, Beit Shemesh, Jerusalem, Shvelah, Dan, Sharon, Emek Chefer, and Shomron districts despite one’s place of work or residence.

The system has been under development for a number of years. It began operating in Ashdod last week. At present, it is only available for smart phone users and only in Hebrew.
