IDF Sgt. Netanel Maimon HY”D, 22, from Gan Yavne, became the 71st victim of Operation Protective edge. He was involved in the Gaza fighting but was on weekend leave when he and others with him were hit with rocket shrapnel. He was niftar on erev Shabbos 3 Elul 5774 in Beilinson Hospital. The levaya was held on Friday in the Gan Yavne Beis Hachaim.

One of the people delivering a hesped was Shas leader Aryeh Deri, who spoke in a choked voice. He told the tzibur that he was Netanel’s sandek many years ago, sharing the pain he felt at the loss of the young man.
