Deri: There is No Machlokes with Rav Amar

amarFollowing Shas’ failed event to mark 11 months since the petira of Maran HaGaon HaRav Ovadia Yosef ZT”L, party leader Aryeh Deri on Monday, 20 Elul held a press briefing for members of the chareidi media.

Deri stated the talk of the party breaking apart and a new chareidi party forming are untrue and simply baseless.

Deri was asked to comment on reports that there is a split between Shas and Rabbi Moshe Amar Shlita.

“I have respect for talmidei chachamim. There is no machlokes with Rav Amar. Anyone wishing to be with us, those who wish to honor Maran’s memory are welcome”.

Did you send an invitation to Rav Amar for the memorial event?

I do not wish to get into names at present. There are decision made by the leaders and anyone wishing to be with us and Maran are welcome. Eli Yishai is a wonderful person. There is no machlokes. I am doing everything I can to achieve this. We are for peace and will do everything for this. There is one party and its Moetzas Gedolei Yisrael and Maran taught us the council and the council alone decides for Shas. On a personal level anyone can ask whom they want but regarding Shas it is the council.

I know his middle name is Moshe but he isn’t known by that. Name used is R’ Shlomo Amar

Not only are your comment pure disgrace of talmidei chachamim, they are factually incorrect.

    1) Rav Amar was a very close talmid of Harav Ovadia zt”l, and Rav Ovadia specifically chose him to be Chief. Rabbi

    2) Rav Ovadia like Rav Amar so much he had wanted him to run again for Chief Rabbi but was unable to do to internal government “deals” that were discovered prior to the vote.

    3) Rav Amar was never directly affiliated with shas, because as mentioned, he was chief rabbi and Is NOT ALLOWED to be affiliated with one party or another.

In the recent elections for Chief Rabbi , Rav Amar supported a different candidate than that of Maran Harav Ovadia zt”l, which pained Maran greatly , namely BECAUSE HE HAD BEEN SO CLOSE TO RAV AMAR!!!!

Get your facts straight before uttering complete nonsense.

  3. Deri reminds me of Baghdad bob who went on Iraqi national tv sating the Americans were nowhere near Baghdad while the US forces were capturing the city…
