Sirens Sounding in Southern Israel [12:25 PM IL]

12:25: IDF officials reporting the sirens were false alarms and that there were no rocket attacks in southern Israel despite reports of explosions earlier.

12:07: There are reports the explosions were mortar rockets that exploded in Gaza, not Israel. There are also reports of light weapons fire from Gaza towards Israel. There is much confusion and contradicting reports. Magen David Adom has moved up its operational status in that area.

12:04: Channel 2 reports there were five false alarms and that no rockets were fired. Other sources report rockets fell as reported earlier. Everyone is awaiting an official announcement from IDF officials.

12:02: Regional leaders call the attacks “crossing the red line” and they are demanding the IDF respond immediately and with sufficient force to get the message across that no rocket fire will be tolerated.

12:00: At least seven mortar shells were fired into the Ashkelon Coast and Shaar HaNegev Regional Councils. B’chasdei Hashem there are no reports of fatalities or injuries.

Earlier in the day Defense Minister Moshe Ya’alon and President Reuven Rivlin visited the area. Ya’alon stated Israel would not tolerate sporadic rocket fire and that Israel would respond harshly to any violations of the ceasefire.

11:57: It has been determined this was not a false alarm and rockets were fired from northern Gaza to southern Israel. At least four rockets fell in Israel while others fell short and landed in Gaza.

11:56: It is reported that explosions are not being heard. The IDF is checking to determine if the sirens were a false alarm.

11:54: Sirens sounding in Kibbutz Erez and Ohr HaNer.

11:50: Sirens are sounding in areas of southern Israel located in the Ashkelon Coast Regional Council. More to follow.
