6-Month-Old Infant is Niftar a Week after Being Dropped

candle914BD”E: A week after being dropped by an older brother, a six-month-old chareidi toddler was niftar. The tragedy occurred on Rabbi Yehuda Tzadka Street in the Cheftziba neighborhood of Beit Shemesh.

The child fell from his brothers arms down steps. He has since been fighting for his life but he was niftar during the night (Mon-Tue) 27 Elul. The child was treated on the scene by EMTs and paramedics from Ichud Hatzalah and Magen David Adom, transported to a trauma center where his condition upon arrival was reportedly moderate-to-serious.

  1. What a horrible, horrible tragedy. May the family have a nechama.

Note to Yeshiva World: It would probably be more sensitive to take the word Charedi out from this story. “Charedi Toddler”. Does it really matter? A sweet Jewish child is lost to Klal Yisrael and that is implicit from the rest of the information. Labeling such a small child is so petty when compared to the magnitude of the loss. It also encourages sterotyping (Do Charedi siblings drop babies?) which never has good outcomes.
(ie: it would sound similarly silly if a stillborn child would be called a Charedi Stillborn, leading this reader to ask when does the labeling and silly pettiness start??)

Let’s all identify and connect with our greater Klal Yisrael, especially in our moments of loss.
