Employees of Water Union to be Served Treif at Organization Event

nLabor union officials of the nation’s water authorities are planning an outing in the Golan Heights for union members nationwide. The venue for lunch for the outing is a treif restaurant. Frum employees are instructed to bring food from home amid a promise they will be reimbursed for the meal that they are missing.

Attorney Aviad HaCohen has sent a letter to Mr. Erez Weissman, the CEO of the labor union, expressing his surprise and suggesting that employees should be taken to a kosher restaurant, pointing out that taking the employees to a treif restaurant represents trampling the rights of many employees who maintain a kosher lifestyle since they are being separated from the group.

The event organizers explain it is difficult to find a kosher restaurant that can accommodate such a large group and within the limited price range required. HaCohen points out that within a 20-30km (12-15 mile) area of the restaurant selected, about a half hour drive, there are numerous restaurants that are certified kosher and meet the criteria set forth by the event organizers.

HaCohen requests they the organizers reconsider their decision, pointing out he is confident their decision will not withstand a petition to the Supreme Court.
