NYC Mayor Ducks Dead Groundhog Questions

dg

Mayor Bill de Blasio is declining to discuss the groundhog that died a week after slipping from his grasp.

The Staten Island Zoo confirmed last week that the rodent died seven days after this year’s Groundhog Day ceremony.

Staten Island Chuck fell several feet from de Blasio’s hands. The zoo said there is no evidence the fall led to the animal’s death.

The zoo said Chuck was actually a stand-in named Charlotte. It also said it may change the proceedings next year so the mayor won’t hold the groundhog.

De Blasio on Monday deferred all questions about the groundhog to the zoo, including one on how he felt upon learning of Charlotte’s death.

A zoo spokesman did not immediately return a request for comment about the mayor’s feelings.

  1. Why would anyone care??? Why is this newsworthy? Every day there are real people in NYC who die from lack of adequate health and nursing care, people who cannot afford food their children etc. and these idiot reporters ask questions about the petriah of a rodent?? Is this something yidden need to know about during the aseres y’mei tshuvah?

  2. Where is Eric Holder when you need him? This hip & cool Deputy Mayor, is in a quandary. He is a left wing wacko who values animals over human lives. Now he’s nervous, his buddies in PETA are going to start calling him “animal killer” and that’s even worse than being called a “racist”! How will he be able to spin out of this one?

  3. Perhaps we should mention the fact that the Monsey Rebbe (Vishnitzer Rebbe of Monsey) Rav Mordechai ben Margolit was hospitalized instead of this utter nonsense. Just a thought.

I hate to tell you this but Groundhog Day is not Vishniz yom tov and I very much doubt the Rav attended the event or his hospitalization was in any way the result of the mayor’s dropping a rodent at the Staten Island Zoo. The rav should have a refuah shelamah but please don’t blame everything on de Blasio.
