Vishnitzer Rebbe Shlita Assists a Small Child Crossing the Street

vishMany Vishnitzer Chassidim are talking about a story that has made its way to the chareidi news. The Vishnitzer Rebbe Shlita left his Toras Chaim Street home on Thursday morning on his way to Ahavas Sholom Street nearby. At an intersection the rebbe saw a small boy, a seven-year-old, who he realized was waiting for someone to assist him across to the other side. He was on his way to cheider.

The rebbe approached the child and said “יינגל’ע, ווילסט אריבער גיין די כביש” (Little boy, do you want to cross the street), surprising the young boy who realized it was the rebbe, opting to remain silent. The rebbe took the boy’s hand and looked both ways and signaled “קענסט אריבער גיין” (you can cross).

Chassidim explain this story is just another case in which the rebbe exhibits what kind of person he is, that despite his stature and responsibilities to thousands of chassidim, he finds the time to assist a small child.

  1. Byshonim, rachmonim, gomlei chasadim. Why should the fact he is a Rebbe change that? The Ahavas Yisroel, the Ohev Yisroel, the Kedushas Tzion of Bobov and his son R’ Shlomo and grandson R’ Naftali. Rav Moshe, the Kloisenberger, Rabbeinu Yoel. Who wasn’t like this?

  2. Kehath64- I’m surprised that someone named for those who carried the holy aron through the midbar has no respect for gedolim. What a shame.

  3. oh come on, I help kids across the street very often and no one thinks better of me. so a rebbe actually exhibited signs of being a human and they make a big story out of it.

    Oh spare me the BS.

  4. With respect, I don’t see why this is news. Any decent human being helps children cross the street. The newsworthy thing is, this child can now tell his eineklach about the day the Rebbe took his hand and helped him! That’s nice.

  5. Does anyone even entertain the laughable notion that Obama would help a kid crossing the street if he saw that need when he was outside?
