NY Man Charged In False Threat Against Obama

obanProsecutors say the Secret Service got involved in a love triangle when a New York man falsely reported that his rival planned to kill President Barack Obama.

The U.S. attorney says Juan Medina of Yonkers has been charged with making false statements.

Medina allegedly made an anonymous 911 call on Aug. 29 accusing the other man of planning to attack Obama, who was coming to Westchester County that day.

Secret Service agents found that man in Hamden, Connecticut, but found no evidence of any plot.

After an investigation, Medina was found in Yonkers. Prosecutors say he first denied, then admitted making the 911 call. He said he was unhappy about a relationship between his girlfriend and the man he reported.

Medina’s lawyer did not immediately return a call seeking comment.
