Lieberman: PM Netanyahu Promised the Chareidim Budgets

lieA Russian language election flyer distributed by the Yisrael Beitenu party incites against the chareidi tzibur. It explains that Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu has already struck a deal to earn him chareidi support in exchange for promising chareidim budgets.

The flyer states that while we have become accustomed to demobilized soldiers receiving twice as much assistance but the nation has forgotten about Yahadut Hatorah and Shas and all the money they take for chareidi families and yeshivos.

“This government was the first without chareidim and apparently the last. He (Netanyahu) has already called them to join his government and made promises pertaining to large sums of money and to eliminate the chareidi draft, additional economic aid and budgets. We have already forgotten the reason for the March 17th elections. Netanyahu wants to build a coalition with the chareidim and Lieberman will oppose it” reads the flyer.

  1. 1. Given the ending conscription of yeshiva students is an “existential” issue for the hareidim, there is no need to offer money, and offering money (and patronage) won’t matter.

    2. It isn’t clear that a right-wing coalition with hareidim but without Yisrael Beiteinu will have enough support, meaning that by withholding support of a nationalist coalition, Lieberman would be defeating the nationalist agenda. All Israeli right-wingers need to decide if they hate the hareidim so much they would rather see Herzog as prime minister. Do they hate the yeshiva world so much, they would give up the settlments in order to strike a blow against Torah?

  2. pathetic how every time someone wants to score points, they blame it on their weaklings. The bds movement/anti semites, blame everything on their villain or scapegoat. You aim the criticism off target to just to score points. Same goes for this haman. He also tries to force the agenda on the haredis. He’s ready to throw the entire impoverished population under the bus as long as he gets the points. He’ll create issues emotionally to be able to play with these emotions and get votes. Disgusting!

  3. Lieberman has already insured that this will happen because he has ruled out participating in a coalition with the Left.
