I once heard from a Brooklyn College (non frum) professor, that most inventions attributed to a people (eg. glass by the Italians) were in fact discovered by Yidden living there. (He actually had CorningWare change the wording of a sign in their public showroom that glass was invented by Italians.)
So, I would not be surprised that it was a Yid who discovered coffee.]]></description>
