FLASHBACK: Donald Trump Once Said He’d ‘Negotiate Like Crazy’ With North Korea [VIDEO]

(VIDEO IN EXTENDED ARTICLE)

On Tuesday President Donald Trump announced that if North Korea continues to threaten the U.S. they will be met with “a fire and fury that the world has never seen,” but in 1999 Trump told NBC that he would deal with North Korea by “negotiating like crazy.”

In October 1999, Trump was on Meet the Press with Tim Russert, who asked him if he was president, would he launch a preemptive strike against North Korea? To which Trump responded:

“First I’d negotiate. I would negotiate like crazy, and I’d make sure we try to get the best deal possible… If a man walks up and puts a gun to your head and says ‘give me your money,’ wouldn’t you rather know where he is coming from before he had the gun in his hand? These people, in three or four years are going to be having nuclear weapons, they’re going to have those weapons pointed all over the world, specifically at the United States.”

This afternoon, Trump said his statement on Tuesday may not have been tough enough, demanding that Kim Jong Un’s government “get their act together” or face extraordinary trouble.

Trump said North Korea has been “getting away with a tragedy that can’t be allowed,” and “North Korea better get their act together or they are going to be in trouble like few nations have ever been in trouble,” Trump said, flanked by Vice President Mike Pence. “It may very well be tougher than I said.

  1. Vus is the chiddush??? The Trumpkopf in Chief contradicts himself in two Tweets ten minutes apart so how can you reasonably expect him to conform his policy statements over a several week time span? He compulsively spits out whatever he is thinking at the moment, or what some talking head at Fox News said five minutes earlier. …

  2. If you watch the video, you’ll see that he’s talking about negotiating BEFORE they get the nukes in 4-5 years. That was over 15 years ago. Times have changed. There is no room for negotiations with a madman
