I assume this statement was made lav davka because if that is the way anone judges frumkeit, that is a pretty narrowminded way of looking at things.
#8, I understand your point, but to me, this article was not written in such a way, nor should it be. To me, and I may be wrong, the tone in pointing out flaws came across as judging the level of "proper" frumkeit. OF course, no one has the right to question the Satmar Rebbe's or anyone elses frumkeit.

Hey #8!
The point made by #3 was simply that a very good writeup should not have included a (not so) subtle dig, and by the way, this was taken from a Jewish Observer article. This has nothing to do with people not being perfect.

While on the subject of the Holy Rebbe, whom I merited to see in spiritual action numerous times, a very salient point is that The Holy Rebbe and his chasidim are the bulwark of not sliding to the left. Since the Satmar chasidim did not lower their European standard of Yiddishkeit even one iota, it kept the blackhatters from becoming grey hatters, the grey hatters from becoming kipa srugo'niks, them from not removing their kipos, etc.
His kano'us was the proper fulfillment of "hochei'ach tochi'ach" and while he was once criticized for strong reprimanding, and it was pointed out to him that Avrohom Ovinu even prayed for the welfare of anshei Sdom, he responded that this was the conversation with Hashem, but he surely told off the anshei Sdom - Hochei'ach tochiach. He ended by saying that he prayed to Hashem for the spiritual welfare of Tzionim and even non-shomrei Torah umitzvos.

It's hard to believe that 29 years have passed without him. Today we see what a far outlook he had. He commanded everyone's respect, even his adversaries had great Yiras HaKavod for him. He truly loved every Jew with a passion. He may have been a Zealot but he was a very gentle perso.
When I see young people named Yoel, I have pity on them that they were not Zocheh to see his holy face.

A famous story when the Satmar Rebbe Ztzl was about 4 years old. A Hungarian Rebbe came to Sighet to visit the Satmar Rebbe's father. He told him to watch the 4 year old Yoel when he davened. When the little boy came to Ahavo Rabboh, he started crying and begged from Hashem, V'hoir eineini b'soirusecho v'dabeik libeini b'mitzvoisecho.
It's amazing that although the satmar rebbe Zatza"l strongly disagreed with many gedolei harabonim He still had the utmost respect and kavod for them. He demanded that his chasidim also not argue with other factions or fight with them.
The Rebbe worked with and for all yidden. It was his authentic ahavas yisroel and achdus that was incredible. The Rebbe's shalosh seudos drashos was like living through the churban again. Bechiyos and kolos that came from the depths of his neshama.
May he be a mailitz yosher for all of klal yisroel.
