#1 Yossi — Please elaborate and support your claim that laws where broken with regard to posters announcing the event.

A couple of years ago a law in my city prohibiting posting signs on telephone poles and so forth was struck down as an unconstitutional infringement on the first amendment.

Unless your a baki in this, you should be afraid of motzei shem ra in this matter:

I can only agree with you halfway.
Do you think that in the alte-heim when the police of the town came to arrest some jews they said “you’re under arrest because you’re a jew” ??? Not quite. They had “legitimate” reasons such as spying against the government, tax evasion (the tax would be officially raised as the arrest was taking place) etc.
Some that were arrested in the recent FBI raid have truly broken the law, yet others were coerced into breaking the law just so they can get “caught”. So the raid was in a way a modern day pogrom.

There’s the big picture here and lessons for all of us (I don’t support their breaking the law for ANY reason). However, don’t be so quick to side with the “authorities” and against your own brothers- no matter how low they’ve sunk.
May we all be zoche to the coming of Moshiach b’mheira b’yameinu amen!

The amount of people attended the Asifa last night in the hall – was way over the legal amount of Capacity allowed. That is again illegal.

we should only dan lekaf zechus when it suits something that you like or feel that is important .
however as i previously posted when you break the law as in hanging up posters it is OK because you feel that it is important to get this news out , yet when someone else breaks the law and does something that you don’t agree with then it is chazer traif .
breaking a law is still breaking a law .

To all the wise guys writing about the notices put all around Boro Park and Flatbush, Maybe it is time to dan lekaf zechus and maybe the persons responsible to print and put up paid the city of NY for the uses of the light and telephone polls for this special asifa and maybe therre is a way to have important information notified to the Klal at large. also the politicians that use the same way to promote themselves they also use the poles and maybe pay for that as well..If not before then the Sanitation dept charges later , either way it is a way to get the message out there and it costs money to do so.
