I remember Rav Chait z"l during my half a year in Chofetz Chaim in Yerushalayim in 1980. The shmuzin he gave every Thursday evening with a fortress of recorders because everyone wanted to capture every word he said. At one shalosh seudot he gave a d'var torah on why the diaspora has two days of Yom Tov and besides the obvious calendarical answer added that the extra day was a k'nas on k'lal yisrael living outside of Eretz Yisrael. He loved being in Eretz Yisrael. Y'hi Zichro Baruch. Does anyone know where I can find recordings of his shmuzin? Please post.

Rabbi Moshe D. Chait z"l was my rauv at the YI of Wavecrest & Bayswater. I still remember the dvar Torauh that he gave me for "Shalashudis" over 45 years ago on the subject of "Maasay auvoth seemaun l'vauneem." Moreover, I remember the feelings of welcome and nurture that I got from him and his household.
I don't remember his "toying" with the Torauh by piling on assorted conflicting Medrausheem as was popular at the time. He reinforced the approach of my rebbe z"l and afforded me a view of Torah as a serious pursuit.
T'hay nishmautho tzrurauh bi-tzror ha-xayeem!

It is interesting that Rabbi Moshe Chait zt''l , was niftar before TeShaBav. His philosophy and personal mussar , was to greet everone with a smile and a positive attitude . He not only learned mussar , he lived mussar . I never remember him ever looking depressed . Never saw him lose his cool. We were a regular group of American guys , and we never seemed to get under his skin. Thats a middah of not only a professional mechanich / torah teacher , but true "mentch." As an instuctor / filmmaker , I look back on that year in Jerusalem-Israel with great pride in having learned and known such a good man/tzaddik. May His Memory Be a Blessing....Mr. M. Moshe Milch
