I can tell you having worked as a Shochet, Mashgeach, bodeq Sakin, and in melicah (salting /soaking) AS WELL AS NIKUR / TRIEBOR….

I you want GLATT, CHALAQ or BIET YOSEF.

You must learn to shecht and check for teifoth yourself…else just learn to sharpen the chalf( knife) and go for chickens.

Glatt, at least in the USA is low, low standard of Kashruth. The non-glatt is not kosher at all.

I lost my job because I brought the OU into a situation where “glatt” kosher meat was being processed with non-kosher ( hind quarters)…LOSHON HORAH is used to CONTROL those who tell the Rabanim…

The OU knows, and does it’s best to put a stop to these things…but the business owners pay the salary of the shochtim /Bodkim and M’nakrim…

So in the USA, I can tell you your Nikkur may or may not be OK, and your “GLATT” well you are lucky if it’s Heter (low grade kosher) meat sometimes.

If this is true, it’s a major scandal. But keep in mind that Yediot Aharanot is viciously anti-Jewish. Can you rely on what they claim?

This is motzee shem roh, by some disgrunted people, i was in brasil, uruguay, argentina and paraguay, and for the past twenty years its glatt. What a now defunct american meat purveyor rejected for Israel was sent to the USA as glatt.

The newspaper is not the Bais Din.

This should be investigated by responsible rabbonim and not newspaper reporters.

The story is obviously very sensationalized.

Forgot to say this: a big shkoyach for Yechiel Spira for writing this. Gathering all the facts, verifying it all, and writing it all, must have taken him days of work.

This is real investigative journalism, and we should all be thankful to Yechiel for doing this work.

#3 – about protesting against this: chareidim usually don’t eat Rabbanut. As for my household, we only buy meat from the Edah HaChareidis, while in other places we rely on Rav Landau also.

I don’t know of any chareidi person who eats plain Rabbanut meat. Even Rabbanut Mehadrin is considered out of the question by everyone I know (including Litvaks, chassidim, Mizrachim, of all types).

these accusations are truly very grave. in my humble opinion , he should ask a question to his rabbi and ask what to do about this matter. maybe instead of protesting about shabbos in jerusalem instead they should protest about the kosher supervision.
