Perhaps we should take a lesson from this as to how serious a distraction texting is. As frum people, we should make a self imposed ban on texting while davening.

people won’t listen. they will text even if its the law not to. people still talk on the phone why wouldnt they still text?

It is about time.
It should also be banned to text while walking and a hefty fine if texting while acoompanied by a child.

1. Perhaps next they will pass a law requiring drivers to pay attention to the road while driving????

2. “eliminating the use of the term “oriental” –
the terms oriental and occidental have long since dropped out of common speech (and when “oriental” was used, it was applied to people from Western Asia as well, such as Jews and Arabs). Perhaps a law is needed to prohibit use of the second person singular/familiar form in English (“thee” and “thou”)? “Oriental” is archaic rather than offensive, and perhaps the legislature should do things like address budget deficits instead of worrying about language.
