Obama Advisors To Recommend Military Trial For 9/11 Suspects

The White House is apparently ready for an about face on where and how to conduct the September 11th terror trials.

The Associated Press is reporting advisers to President Barack Obama are close to suggesting a military trial for self-professed September 11th attack mastermind Khalid Sheik Mohammed and four alleged co-conspirators.

A recommendation will be made to the president when the review of where and how to hold the trials is complete.

The officials spoke to the AP on the condition of anonymity, because they were not authorized to discuss the deliberations.

Attorney General Eric Holder said in November the five would be transferred from Guantanamo Bay for civilian trials in Lower Manhattan.

The idea had support early on, but many, including Mayor Michael Bloomberg, reversed their stance when it became clear cost and logistics would be extraordinary.

Republican Congressman Peter King has proposed legislation that would prevent the administration from putting terror suspects on trial on U.S. soil.

  1. GOOD!
    – and then, let them have the trial on a military base!
