What a joke.

I have used El Al, and honestly I don’t care very much, but I’ll just use the cheapest and most convenient (ie, normal hours, not middle-of-the-night) flight I can find. As of late that has been a German airline.

not only are they mechalelei shabbos they lied to the godol hador. besides for the “double syatta dishmaya” there are the movies and other forbidden sights which are visible on the plane.
especially when there is no pesonal screens and it is difficult to avert your own eyes, nevermind your childrens.
so as a matter of fact it is the only airline that is mechalel shabbos as all others belong to goyim. but they see themselves as having no reason to keep more than goyim and only do it for advertisement, and they think that if goyim would do the same it would be an ad for them too, therefore they pride themselves as being the only airline that keeps shabbos. r”l. they miss the point of the protest against them completely. l’hashem hayeshuah

Do the same people who doubt the veracity of Rav Chaim’s words here doubt them when there are postings about different piskei halacha he allegedly gave “to an avrech”?

This is a total fallacy. El Al operates it wholly owned subsidiary, Sun D’Or, on Shabbos. El Al takes reservations, secures planes, performs maintenance, checks in passengers, and does every other task on Shabbos and yom tov, with the cosmetic exception of taking off and landing.

This is no doubt a good thing and maintains the Jewish character of the Jewish state. It should be rewarded and Rav Kanievsky’s bracha is appreciated, but El Al bragging about Shmiras Shabbos is marketing joke.

I am not promoting a chumra or a protest, just calling a spade a spade.

This article is bordering on the ridiculous.

a) Kashrut on EL AL? What on earth does that even mean? There is kosher food available on ALL airlines!!!

b) EL AL is not shomer shabbat at all. Their subsidiary airline Sun D’or flies on Shabbat and EL AL staff work on Shabbat to ensure that the plane leaving Saturday night is in flying order.

c) Other airlines are not required to be shomer shabbat as they are not owned by Jews, unlike EL AL.
