Ulster County Sheriff Launches Operation Drive Safe

As the summer months approach, please read this information released to YWN by the Sheriff Department of Ulster County:

Sheriff Paul VanBlarcum, with the assistance of the New York State Governor’s Traffic Safety Committee and the Ulster County Traffic Safety Board, announces the launch of
Operation Drive Safe.

Through funding from the New York Governor’s Traffic Safety Committee, the Sheriff’s Office will deploy a marked vehicle-and-traffic-enforcement unit to patrol the roadways of
Ulster County. Using data collected with the help of the Ulster County Traffic Safety Board, the patrol will focus on the roadways and towns with the highest number of accidents
involving young drivers, motorcycles, and aggressive operators. It is the goal of the Sheriff to continue to deter those who drive aggressively and cause accidents. This program will run through September 2010.
