Los Angeles: Fire at Toras Emes girls school

fire.jpgYesterday (Monday), there was an electrical fire in the girls building of Toras Emes in Los Angeles – when some electrical wires in the yard exploded and caused a small fire. There were girls in close range to the fire, but B”H no one was hurt. The fire did cause considerable damage and teachers sent home the students yesterday saying there will probably be no school Tuesday.

  1. I am a teacher at Toras Emes and was there at the time of the fire. B”h no one was hurt and the girls were all evacuated in probably less than a minute. As far as I know, there wasn’t considerable damage done to the school at all, B”h! And there is school today as usual. We were never told otherwise. We were back in our classrooms 45 minutes later, without lights of course! May we only share Besuros Tovos!

  2. Far be it from me to proffer any type of mussar lecture but it just seems to me that we have been hearing about a great many fires recently ranging from school and yeshiva buildings and dorms to residential buildings affecting frum yidden, surely hashem is telling us smething. Fires nowadays are a relatively unusual occurence and the disproportinate amount must provoke thought. Chazal tell us that a lack of Torah learning at night is one reason, can anyone tell us any more?
