It sounds like someone is trying to a fast one on some one. Since YWN said it is the source of this, YWN has the responsibility to get the facts in some coherent order. Much of the story sounds impossible halachically. Any chance YWN was copying this from a frei source.

Stupid. You can’t give a get against the will of the husband. The beis din should’ve just said “ok now their not married” and clapped their hands twice and it would cause the same effect.

IF the get story is true, the get is invalid and the couple are still married under halacha. (Irrespective of how they are viewed or registered by the State of Israel or its government.)
