PHOTOS: Man Walks Into NYPD Precinct With Fake ‘Bomb’

What sounds like the set-up for a really tasteless joke actually happened today when a nut job sauntered into a stationhouse in Bay Ridge and claimed he was carrying an explosive device, sources told The Post.

“I have a bomb!” the 40-year-old lunatic allegedly shouted around 10:30 a.m. when he entered the 68th Precinct’s headquarters on 65th Street, police sources said.

Shocked cops whisked the man outside and told him to leave the “bomb,” which was wrapped in a bag, on the street.

The officers immediately notified the Emergency Service Unit cops housed in an adjoining building, and the NYPD Bomb Squad also responded to secure the scene and shut down the block.

Inside the bag was an empty propane tank, part of a lamp and a section of circular hose, sources said.

The man was taken into custody, where he told detective he also had planted another bomb, they said.

This device, he said, was hidden in a blue van parked outside a building located about 2 miles away on Fort Hamilton Parkway near 83rd Street the sources said.

Cops rushed to the scene and evacuated the building.

They then checked the van but found nothing suspicious, and residents were allowed to return to their apartments, sources said.

Charges against the man are pending.
