Lawsuit Prompted by Inferior Chareidi Education in Israel

The Ma’avar (Transition) group which assists youths who abandon the path of a Torah lifestyle adjust to secular society is filing a lawsuit against the state. The organization this week launched a campaign on its Facebook page, demanding the chareidi schools teach core subjects, referring to arithmetic and English for example.

In its Facebook campaign the organization calls on peoples who fell victim to chareidi education and did not get a basic education to join in a class action lawsuit against the state for permitting chareidi schools, which receive state funding, to ignore their basic education by ignoring secular subject matter.

The organization is willing to undertake the expense of the lawsuit, confident it will find backers who will absorb the costs involved.

“Whoever learned in a chareidi school (even one who was once chareidi and is no longer) and was compelled to then earn a matriculation diploma and/or pass psychometric exams to enter collage, or one who has still not completed either, and as a result lost years in the workforce or sustained other financial loss as a result, is urged to send details” the appeal states.

The final sentence adds “The appeal is to both males and females and it is written in the male gender for purposes of modesty”.

According to Transition officials, they are receiving many inquires and several dozen people have already signed on to join the lawsuit.

  1. Experience in other countries suggests that students from yeshivos who were good students in yeshiva do well if they decide to go to university since they are used to mastery learning of a difficult subject (what our yeshivos do in middle school is equivalent to what goyim/frei Jews do in graduate school). It should also be noted that the Israeli “psychometric exams” have been shown to be substantially biased to protect the secular Ashkenazi elites.

And one should remember that Hareidim and Hilonim in Israel are in a life or death struggle. Only one group will surive. While me might be able to compromise with the Muslims and learn to (again) live in peace with them, there is no hope for peaceful coexistence since the mere existence of a Hareidi community is a living rejection of the Hiloni/Zionist assumption that Jews can only survive by rejected Torah.

  2. Our Gedolim have made the Torah-true way abundently clear. Going against the Torah because you think otherwise is the route of most all evils and can never bring prosperity!

  3. maybe the chareidim should sue the gov’t for robbing the chilonim of their basic Jewish heritage in their state-supported schools, where even the simplest tenets of Yahadus aren’t taught

  4. A lawsuit – That’s a novelty! Under which law is the state obligated to educate the people in a way the law doesn’t obligate???

  5. While this lawsuit should obviously be condemned, all children should learn enough math to function in the world. If the chareidi students can’t figure out if they got the correct change, there’s a problem.
