After Success In Israel, Areivim Comes To The US

[COMMUNICATED CONTENT]

Every day, you see the Tzedakah campaigns created to assist families in dire need.

When a father or mother passes away, they often leave multiple children and a helpless spouse struggling to cope not just with the emotional difficulty, but with the financial burden as well.

What if there was a way to prevent these tragedies from completely destroying a family financially?

This was the purpose behind the createon of Areivim.

What is Areivim?

Areivim is a venture created by Kupat Ha’ir as a preemptive measure to ensure that in the case of the loss of a parent, the family will have the means to continue to sustain itself without a financial crisis.

It works based on the concept of mutual accountability. Thousands of families have already joined the program, and essentially pool their money if a member in the group passes away and leaves unmarried children at home, chas veshalom. Because of the number of members, each individual needs only to contribute $7 to the fund created for each orphan.

What is done with the money?

Areivim collects the funds and establishes trusts for each unmarried child. The family is able to live off the interest earned on the money, and when the child is ready to get married, they are handed the principle to help them build their new life.

This solves the two biggest financial strains when a parent passes away – paying for the ongoing needs of raising a family, and covering the costs of marrying off a child.

Is Areivim life insurance?

Although it bears certain similarities to life insurance, Areivim is unequivocally not life insurance. It is only collected when there is a need due to the untimely petirah of one of the members, and it is entirely not for profit. At the same time, it functions under the auspices of the Gedolei Hador, and all questions are referred to a Rabbinic board for their instruction.

What is required to join Areivim?

Because of the simplicity and huge impact of the program, Gedolei Hador are enthusiastically supportive of the venture. Thousands of families have already joined and millions of dollars have been raised to help hundreds of orphans rebuild their lives.

All it takes to join up is to fill out the form below, providing basic information and your declaration of good health.  You will only be charged if a need arises, and no more than $28 a month will ever be collected.
