Photo Essay: NYPD Aviation Name 7 Choppers After Police Officers Killed In The Line of Duty (Photos By Paul Martinka)


On Tuesday, Jun 20, 2017 there was a dedication ceremony of seven NYPD Aviation helicopters bearing 10 names of officers killed in the line of duty.

The ceremony was held at the NYPD Aviation Unit in Floyd Bennett Field in Brooklyn.

Hundreds attended the ceremony including NYPD commissioner James O’Neil, top NYPD brass and family members of 10 officers who died in the line of duty. The names of the Hero’s are as follows:

Ptl. Plato Arvantis and Ptl. George H. Bishop; Ptl. Patrick Harrington and Ptl. Joseph Mariconda; P.O. James Rowley and P.O. Charles Trojahn; P.O. William Rivera; Det. Omar J. Edwards; P.O. Alain K. Schaberger; Det. Peter J. Figoski;
