Following the request of the President of Togo and after holding a joint consultation with the Prime Minister, it was decided to postpone the convening of the Israel-Africa Summit, which was scheduled to take place in October in Loma.

The President of Togo stressed that ensuring the success of the important event requires significant preparations and complex assessments.

The President of Togo thanked and praised the Prime Minister for his determination to strengthen the ties of cooperation between his country and the State of Israel, and his personal contribution to ensuring the success of the initiative to hold the summit, and stressed that this meeting is intended to consolidate efforts against the threat to international peace and security, which undermines stability and impedes the development of the continent.

Israel is committed to continuing its efforts vis-à-vis the African continent as it has done in recent years, including during the Prime Minister’s visit to Rwanda, Kenya, Uganda and Ethiopia in the summer of 2016 and at the ECOWAS (Economic Community of West African States) summit in Liberia in June 2017, to which the Prime Minister was invited as a guest of honor.

Israel believes that the countries of Africa and Israel will benefit from the continued advancement of practical cooperation among them in important areas such as water, agriculture, health and technology.”
